It seems like every August I make a Macaron. Last year I followed the pattern exactly with indonesian batik and black cotton. This year I went a little outside my usual comfort zone with the colors and I strayed from the pattern! GASP!
I went ahead and cut out the bodice pieces in a size 2 while I contemplated what to do with the lower half. I knew I needed to change the skirt because the original was too snug in the hips. I thought about doing a gathered skirt or a circle skirt but part of me just wanted to cut a bigger size in the original and call it a day. I finished sewing the bodice and I decided to go with the circle skirt. Since I was using quilting cottons I didn’t have much width to work with so without widening the waistband that skirt was going to be SHORT!!!! It still feels short to me! But guess what it is perfect for…..
Twirling!I twirled myself dizzy during our photoshoot!
As you can see on the ground the leaves are beginning to fall which means…FALL is coming!!! Up next some fall sewing plans!

So cute!! Way to go!
Cute, cute cute! Glad to see you’re back. Are you joining the Whipstitch Club or whatever?
Hey Linda! I’ve been thinking about getting a membership at Whipstitch, what about you?
I have too. I am just debating if I will do it right now or wait a couple of months. I’m not sure if i will be encouraged to sew more or if it will be just one more thing to have hanging over my head that I need to take advantage of since I bought it.
Fall can be a busy time in our family since we have three birthdays in September, six in October (two just need cards, four need presents, and two need parties or meals)plus, as my son used to say, Halloween. November brings the last two, plus others who need cards.
Maybe I’ll decide by the end of the month. If you do join, what level of membership will you get?
Linda
I think I’ll start out with the Fat Quarter membership to see how much I’ll use it and what these “member only events” are like.
I’m debating about that and just getting the Occasional Day Pass for a bit. You work right by there, right, so you could leave a project there and run by at lunch or after work. That might be a way to get something done- there is always something else that needs doing at home, or at least my home.
I used to live across the street but I’m over by Emory now and I’m working in the Perimeter area. I think it will help me be more focused on my work because like you said there is always something else at home that needs to be done, cleaning, laundry, etc. If I am paying money to work on projects at Whipstitch then I won’t be distracted by all the other things I need to do.
Oh my gosh! I love this so much! I have a Macaron on my to-do list and think I may have to use yours for inspiration?
If you make a white apron and wear white socks, this would be a perfect Alice in Wonderland costume for Halloween
One of the most darling and original Macarons I’ve ever seen! =)
